What are you hearing from the Lord in this next season? Have you written it down? Have you sat with the Lord about what He is saying to you?
I am asking these questions because so many times we hear from the Lord and we get instructions; however, we don’t write it down. We also don’t follow through with it and it falls to the ground. Hence, why so many feel as though they are stuck or going around the same mountain year after year.
And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. Habakkuk 2:2 ESV
Now here is the thing, the Holy Spirit will give you the vision or a goal. Write down the goal, but there must be action behind it. Or did you just put pen to paper without a clear plan of execution?
This is what I did in 2024 to launch my publishing company.
I wrote down what God had spoken to me. I listened to the prophetic word that I received about it. I created a plan. Also, I created an accountability structure. I got an accountability coach. I am that person that needs someone to hold my feet to the fire. We met once a month and she kept me accountable for my company as well as other things that the Lord has placed upon my heart.
You may not need an accountability coach, but you may need a vision board with a picture of that vision and scripture declarations. This way you keep it before you and you declare what God has shown will come to forth. You can do this for the restoration of your marriage, businesses, health, debt cancellation, etc. Whatever God has shown you or spoken to you, put it before you and call it forth.
You may also want to create SMART Goals. This is also a way to bring that vision forth and you can add scripture to them as well.
SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time Bound.
Let’s break these down:
Specific
The goal should have a clearly defined outcome. For example, I will memorize Psalm 91 and say it weekly for the next month.
Measurable
The goal should have an objective way to measure it, such as a deadline, a number, or a percent change. Example: I will read through the Gospel of John once a week for 8 weeks.
Achievable
The goal should be within your capabilities and acceptable to you. Volunteer at a local food bank for 2 hours every other Saturday for the next quarter.
Relevant
The goal should matter to you and be in alignment with your goal. To become a better communicator, I will practice active listening with my family members. I will listen to understand and not to respond.
Time-bound
The goal should have a deadline or a collection of time parameters to keep you in track for timeliness. Such as develop a personal prayer journal and write down 3 prayer requests each day for the next 6 weeks.
I know your question is what does this have to do with my walk with Christ. When God gives instructions, He is specific. His instructions are specific to the letter. Examples like Noah building the Ark, Joseph how he prepared Egypt for the famine and even Moses preparing the children of Israel for the death angel. In every aspect, He gave specific instructions for the specific outcomes.
Remember these are for GOD plans for you meaning He can add to as well as modify the plans so be flexible, prayerful and don’t give up.
Sit with God to get the blueprint for next year and whether you get an accountability coach, write it on a vision board or do SMART goals, let the Holy Spirit led you so that you will fulfill the assignments that are before you.
Prayer~Lord, as we sit with You for direction and instructions for next year, Father give us ears to hear and a heart to receive.
Lord, we will be accountable to you with our assignments. Lord, we will write it down and keep it before us. No longer will we just let the assignments overwhelm us or fall to the ground. We are partnering with you Lord. We will achieve all that you give us to do in Jesus Name.
Scriptures:
The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. Proverbs 21:5 ESV
But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded. 2 Chronicles 15:7 ESV
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26 ESV
